National TSA has a brochure entitled "Coping with TS in Early Adulthood" which is, half jokingly, dedicated to "children with Tourette Syndrome who grew up!" Adults with TS were quite vocal in noting that so many of the local chapter services and resources revolved around children with TS, that adults with TS, quite rightfully, feel a bit left out. We want to change that impression by providing support to adults with TS - but asking for their help, as well.
Adults with TS may still need the support of the TS community as they cope with relationships, college, employment, housing, and the usual host of adult issues. Even small problems can be exacerbated if tics or obsessive-compulsive behaviors continue unabated into adulthood. Support groups, professional referrals and the chapter "buddy system" can help provide that support. But, the chapter also looks to adults with TS who have been successful in creating a fulfilling life for themselves to help those who are struggling now by providing extra support to those in need. Perhaps as a mentor or buddy, perhaps as a volunteer or support group leader…whatever fits best.
Your advice and ideas, musings, creative writings and art are welcome on this page. Share your thoughts and perhaps you'll find some inspiration from what others contribute. This page will be what you make of it. Just like life.
TSAGW offers a “buddy system” for chapter members of all ages.
If you’d like to meet another adult with TS with similar interests, please
let us know. We’ll do our best to find you a compatible “buddy” for an
in-person or on-line friendship. Just call our chapter office or email us to
